Andrea Roggi

Andrea Roggi, an Italian sculptor born in Tuscany, expresses through his work a profound vital momentum. From adolescence he developed a passion for the visual arts, and his connection with Tuscan nature, Mediterranean landscapes and classical architecture nourishes an aesthetic deeply rooted in the Italian Renaissance. At a very young age he turned to sculpture, choosing bronze for its density, warmth and ability to convey form, emotion and the human soul.

His work is profoundly humanistic. In his bronze sculptures — notably the famous trees of life — he carves human silhouettes intertwined within trees. These figures represent transmission, memory, love and the universal bond; the slender branches and visible roots become the thread of life.

Andrea Roggi's style is instantly recognisable. Through his trees of life he materialises the connection between the human and the divine, between matter and emotion. His work reflects a true vital momentum, where the density of bronze seems weightless: the material becomes fluid, almost moving. His sculptures of the olive tree embody this energia della vita, creating a deep pulsation that flows through living beings and natural elements.

Among his best-known pieces are monumental and aerial bronze sculptures depicting children, couples or families in spirals of trees — often olive trees — as if carried by an invisible energy. This lightness, opposed to the strength of bronze, creates a fascinating visual balance. An exceptional tree of life, created in collaboration with the American jeweller Martin Katz and incorporating a suspended sphere of precious stones representing the Earth, was unveiled at landmark vernissages in Florence and Paris.

Each of Andrea's works becomes a point of convergence between art, nature and the spiritual. Often placed outdoors, his sculptures redefine form by playing with light, movement, material and the colours of the patina, thanks to his own casting technique. Momentum Art Gallery has been showcasing and supporting Andrea Roggi's work since 2017.
